
Here’s a great quote from Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius from the mid second century. He was a pagan but this is a very Christian thought.
“Be like the promontory against which the waves continually break, but it stands firm and tames the fury of the water around it.” (Meditations, VI, 49)
This reminds me of Jesus stilling the sea in Mark 4:39 when he uttered the calming words, “Peace, be still.” Today, in your life, stand on the promontory that is Jesus and watch the waves melt away.
